On Friday, February 5, I job shadowed a radiology technician, Courtney Powell, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. I spent half of the day observing Ms. Powell in the radiology department, and I also met other radiology students that attended JCJC and PRCC. Ms. Powell had assigned me to work with the college students the other half of the day, so I could observe how they perform different operations outside of the radiology department such as: in the ER and in outpatients rooms. They performed radiographic procedures, including fluoroscopy and mobile radiography. I chose to job shadow at Forrest General Hospital in the radiology department because its a large hospital and you get to experience different things with each patient you encounter in the radiology lab. …show more content…
They are a flagship hospital of Forrest Health and they are a 512 bed hospital. They are a non profit organization. At Forrest General, the faculty are hired based on their expertise in their fields of study. The employees work in pairs of 2 or more if performing an operation. It takes more than one person to transport a patient to a specific place. The beds the patients lay in are not very light, especially with a patient laying on it. The faculty that work at Forrest General Hospital are very friendly and respectful. They care for all patients they encounter. The patients care is top priority. They are a very diverse organization. They experience different ethnic backgrounds, ages, and genders working at the company. They do not discriminate. I would love to work in this type of environment because I love helping others regardless of what the situation would
