Fort Sumner was attacked around 1861. Abraham Lincoln, Robert Anderson, Governor Francis Pickens, and Jefferson Davis are the main people involved in the event. It happened in Charleston Harbor which is a part of South Carolina.
On February 1861, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, and Georgia, had joined South Carolina in seceding. Also on February 4th, delegates from each state started a new government and a new nation, called Confederate States of America. Jefferson Davis was elected president on the new nation.
