Ms. Francine Knightly Contract Renewal Ms. Knightly is by far the most accomplished Texas Educator I have came across. Her students have achieved the highest average score of any Texas High School on the advanced Placement exams, and last year she was honored as a “Texas Educator of the Year.” She was named one of the “Ten Top Science Educators” in the United States. It has come to my attention that Ms. Knightly’s contract is at risk of not being renewed due to some complaints about her behavior outside of school. The contract of Ms. Francine Knightly should be renewed due to her accomplishments and her mastery of her teaching field. For the past three years, Ms. Francine Knightly has taught chemistry and physics at John Dewey High School…show more content… Almost every day after school, Ms. Knightly rides her bicycle to “Pleasant Valley Alley” a bowling establishment about a half-mile from the school. There, she likes to drink, relax, and unwind like other hard working individuals. Because of the licenses “The Gutter” has, a restaurant and lounge located in the bowling alley, it allows patrons of all ages to enter. Ms. Knightly has been observed drinking around her fellow students, but no students have been observed drinking while in her presence. Ms. Knightly has never acted inappropriately towards the students, nor any other individuals in that manner, under the influence. At the bowling alley, nothing is ever “off the table” for discussion with her students. She supposedly once told a group of students that the only thing worse for people than “chicken-fried steak with cream gravy is unprotected sex. And the only thing better than Belgian chocolate is protected sex.” Ms. Knightly is trying to teach her students that they need to be protected from sexual diseases and teen pregnancy when participating in sexual activities. Four girls in the senior class have become pregnant this year because they weren’t using the proper protection
