Elective 2: Texts in Time
In this elective students compare how the treatment of similar content in a pair of texts composed in different times and contexts may reflect changing values and perspectives. By considering the texts in their contexts and comparing values, ideas and language forms and features, students come to a heightened understanding of the meaning and significance of each text.

TEXT INVESTIGATION: CLASS RESEARCH TASK

A. Choose an excerpt from the novel “Frankenstein: A Modern Prometheus” and complete the following tasks:
1. Explain how this excerpt fits into the narrative overall.
2. Identify and explain any significant language forms and textual features which position the reader for particular meanings.
3. Identify significant contextual features and explain why they are significant based on your understanding of Mary Shelley’s context.

B. Summarise your response on A4 page and submit for photocopying and distribution to class.
