In the novel Frankenstein, the monster craved acceptance although striving to obtain it numerous amounts of times this society was based solely on appearance so therefore it was rejected at every funny all of mankind. The author Mary Shelley gained the basics of education through William Godwin's library. Shelley one could say retained basic literary tools from the book of their times. A while after the man by the name of Percy Byron, a young romantic poet married Shelley and eventually the couple had a competition to see who could produce the most frightening tale to which laid the ground basis for this such novel. The monster being the example of an experiment gone wrong gained knowledge and became human like on an intellectual level from speaking to writing. It aided multiple people from chopping wood, to saving a girl from drowning in a stream while being shot in shoulder not to mention. Emotions burn within monster just wanting to be expressed to another, so the feeling of actually being alive is present. The monster remained an outcast though because not a sing sole could look past the physical deformities from scars, yellowish skin, watery glowing eyes, black lips, the list remains to never end. The following summary explains how important acceptance can be on a grand scale and what effects it can have when one never received it. The monster had a strong thirst for it day in and day out. Due to Victor Frankenstein evading the scene to which the monster was created the monster began seeking out Victor in return. Victor waited and thought “as it foced it way through the window-shutters, I beheld the wretch-the miserable monster whom I had created. He held up on the curtain of the bed; and his eyes if eyes they may be called were fixed on me. His jaws opened and he muttered some inarticulate sounds, while a grin wrinkled his cheeks. He might have spoken but I did not hear; one hand was stretched out seemingly to detain me but I escaped and rushed downstairs".(Shelly 56-57)Although the monster had a mind of a newborn child at the time since it was just created it did not realise it was being rejected when Victor tried escaping the grasp of it, instead the monster was trying to seek acceptance from Victor as a son to a father would. The monster eventually fled into the wilderness since no one was around. It learns basic survival skills by eating berries from bushes and off the ground, drinking water from nearby streams,keeping warm with clothes and lastly surprisingly learns pretty quickly how to keep a fire going which a wandering beggar had left.
