Franklin Delano Roosevelt, the 32nd President of the United States of America, was born on January 30, 1882. Herbert Hoover was the president before Roosevelt, Hoover had a different take on things, he thought that people had to help themselves without the influence of the government. Roosevelt believed that if one is blessed with wealth and luxury, they are obligated to help others who aren’t as fortunate. Roosevelt served as president during one of the worst times in American history. Even though in popular belief the stock market crashing generated the Great Depression, that wasn’t the case. The stock market was basically the climax of the breaking point in America’s economy, this led to people not being so assured of their financial state. At that time, many banks were failing and overproduction was starting to be a colossal issue.
