Franklin Roosevelt was born on January 30, 1882. He went through his basic schooling at a local school. Then he went to college at Harvard for 8 years in 1903 and then he went to a school of law at Columbia in 1910. During his schooling at Harvard he married Eleanor Roosevelt in 1905.
After finishing law school he began his career in politics as a senate member, but he always wanted to do more. He ran for vice president with James M. Cox. They lost to Warren G. Harding in the general election, but still many people started to know about him being important. For the next several elections he went to the Democratic National Conventions to nominate a New York Governor.

Then 100 day later he made a new law about the great depression and WWII. He decided that we should stay out of WWII for as long as possible. In the early 1930’s he declared that Great Britain and France were our first line of defence. Not much happened between then and 1936. By then the economy has went back up 36% and unemployment went down by 25%.
He got elected for 4 terms. Surprisingly he could run for a 3rd and 4th term, because the law about only being able to run for 2 terms was made in 1947. In 1940 he won his 3rd election. The people voted for him to get a 3rd term, because they thought that he would be the best person to be president during this time of war, since he had already been president during the great depression and part of WWII.
During 1941 President Franklin had the U.S. factories become places for us to make things needed by our allies: France, Britain, and Russia. Roosevelt stood firm against the powers of Germany, Italy, and Japan. Some people in U.S. Congress expanded the Army and Navy the make more supplies for our
