Life is Like Underwear

People can change through their life experiences, so give them a second chance. Life is like underwear, change is good. In the book “Freak the Mighty” by Rodman Philbrick, the author shows Loretta Lee, Grim, Freak and Max as well as how they transformed their personalities during their experiences.
First and foremost, Loretta Lee was one of the main dynamic characters in “Freak the Mighty”. Seeming like a tough, mean biker girl, readers did not expect much from her, but towards the end of the book when Max is bound to a post in the dark, “Loretta goes ‘The plan is, Iggy keeps him busy while I get you loose, now isn’t that a good plan?” (Philbrick, page 126) This shows that Loretta, despite the fact that she used to seem like an antagonist, she takes the time and effort to come up with a plan to rescue Max, and consequently puts her own life at stake. Her changing opinion makes her a dynamic character. If Max hadn’t of given her a second chance, he might have eventually been murdered by Killer Kane.

In my example, the situation describes when Max and Freak are in the cafeteria, and Freak begins to choke on chop suey. “He(Freak) can’t talk, all he can do is look at me and try to say something with his eyes and then I’m running to get the nurse. ‘Quick. He can’t breathe! He can’t breathe!’” This describes Max as a changing character because at the beginning of the book he goes by Kicker and is mean to everyone he meets, especially to someone as small and puny as Freak, but now he shows more emotion. When Freak chokes on the food Max is yelling and screaming for help, showing he really and truly cares for Freak. Max proves this again at the end of the book when Freak
