Frederick Douglas thought a person should never depend on another man power for their benefit standing. Any person is capable of learning from themselves and use their knowledge, power, education and position to fulfill their goal in life and not somebody else achievements. This is including a person found in any field. For example, college students, factory workers, professors, plowmen. These self-made men are men from any race from Caucasian, Indian, Angle-Saxon or Angle African. And they should receive all the respect for their achievements in life and for being part of the diversity of colored people in this world. Benjamin Banneker was a successful self-made man; he was a black person that free his people from slavery.

Douglass defends these ideas by seeing the nation made of range of diversity race, and the Constitution of the United States is the support, because it does not mention any race specific. These articles were saying that The Negros were lazy and that they would take Irish and German jobs at the north, and they were not capable to fight. But The Southerners and Douglas were sure that Negros were prepared to fight when their rights were taken away, rights and privileges as the Irish and German. Douglas wanted the Negros to have equality in the political aspect. He wanted to adopt the perfect civil rights, so the black people can have equality in the political body. He was saying that if the Negros are save, the nation will be as well, but you can destroy nation if the Negros are gone. But to save the nation, Negros must have equality and freedom without the concern of their colors.
