Frederick Douglass, one of the most important black American leaders o of all time, was advocating abolitionism for the people that needed it the most; he did this by public speaking by being the voice of a community that was voiceless. As for Hayden its pride because we all finally got what we deserve and are proud of it.Their backgrounds have affected their views in Frederick.Dunbar's parents escaped from slavery before he was born so he wasn't exposed to it. Yet this didn't protect him from having struggles still for the color of his skin. He discovered ways to get accepted the result of this lead to becoming employed at the Library of Congress.Hayden did the same, he made a name for himself and became the first African American to be Consultant in Poetry to the Library of Congress.
