Heroism “I’m saying a hero means you step across the line and are willing to make a sacrifice,” (–Joseph Campbell). Heroes sacrifice their life every day to helping others, in the long run helping others helps them. Heroes do the unexpected to outwit their enemies in battel. A hero is someone who goes above and beyond what is expected to protect his community no matter the cost. Heroes often get largely rewarded for helping their community and breaking expectations. Fredrick Douglas was a hero because he went above and beyond what anyone thought he could do. For instance Fredrick Douglas was an escaped slave who feared the thought of being captured so much he almost did not attempt to escape. A hero is not a coward, a hero is brave and strong. Unlike a coward a hero will put himself at risk for the greater good of his people. A hero is worthy and noble, not disrespectful and un-faithful. A hero is not dumb and clueless, they are smart and creative. Hero’s go above and beyond all the time. They are actually ordinary people but what makes them different is that they don’t show fear or negative thinking. Heroes always break through expectations. They put themselves at risk in order to help people they have never even met. They are willing to run the extra mile, and complete things other people aren’t. Heroes are willing to save everyone. Hero’s might even save a criminal. They are just and equal to anyone and anything. Heroes do not torture or abuse people, they do what is right even to someone who has does so wrong. In conclusion heroes can be ordinary people as long as they are willing to put in extra effort to do extraordinary things. Heroes can come in all shapes and sizes.
