Relationship between Power and Fame To have power is to have control or authority over something or someone. However, having fame is to be populaer or widely known. People often think that to have power you must be famous, this is not completely true. In fact, most famous people have little to no power at all. In the novel Endymion, the author shows how fame and power do not always go hand and hand. Endymion is a character in the passage who wants fame because he thinks it will bring him power. When talking to The Baron, Endymion says, "I should like to become a public man...I should like to have power." Endymion thinks by becoming a public man, he will obtain power. Endymion isnt the only one who thinks this. Many people confuse being famous to having power. The Baron tells Endymion, "A public man is responsible and a responsible man is a slave." The Baron is saying that to be famous is often all about the people. Endymion thinks that if he becomes famous he will have power, but thats not the case. Famous people have to do what their fans or followers want in order to stay relevent. Take a well known celebrity like Kevin Hart for example. Kevin Hart has a huge fan base and to keep those fans he has to do what his fans want. Kevin has to think of his fans before making any big decisions, for it is they who give him his fame. With that being said, it is seen how much of a responsibility it is for a famous person to stay famous, and how they really have no real
