Freedom of Speech is an important right here in America. Considering the fact that, celebrities choose to state their political beliefs, it is a wrongful act for normal citizens of the US think otherwise. Some say celebrities just want attention, while other people say celebrities want to influence younger generations. Meanwhile, most celebrities endorse their favorite politician by using their popularity to persuade their fans to vote. American celebrities should use their status to voice their political opinions as they have a right to freedom of speech, bring attention to important issues and influence younger voters to choose their government officials. First of all, it would be unconstitutional if the citizens of the US prohibited celebrities from voicing their …show more content…
The First Lady of the United States introduced this issue, but she had a few famous people right by her side, Her celebrity sidekicks took an unfamiliar issue about providing the proper education to 62 million girls who are unable to learn due to their cultures, to a recognizable issue. This program branches from the Let Girls Learn which educates girls all over the world and somehow turned it into a phenomenon the majority of the world wants to participate in. By using their attention, celebrities spread the word about the 62 million girls very quickly. On the contrary, celebrities can sometimes spread out the wrong message or have the wrong idea come across. For instance, Leonardo Dicaprio says he is a huge environmentalist who is all about saving the environment, but in reality he is a wasteful person. He spends thousands, maybe, millions of dollars on yachts that end up polluting the ocean. So it is very important that a celebrity is not hypocritical and goes against what they are trying to protect.
