Freedomland is a movie about a missing boy named Cody from the city of Gannon; Cody’s mother Brenda claims she was car jacked in the ghetto Armstrong and the car had Cody asleep inside; in the end we find out Brenda was lying about the carjacking and Cody died when he drank cough syrup and she staged the whole thing. The movies follows detective Lorenzo Council; Armstrong is in Lorenzo’s jurisdiction so he takes it upon himself to try and find Cody. while Lorenzo is trying to figure out what happened to Cody there is a lot of tension in Armstrong because Cody’s uncle is part of the Gannon Police Department and has put a lockdown on Armstrong. The biggest example of the conflict perspective in this movie happens when the Gannon Police Department places a lockdown on the residence of Armstrong. Since the carjacking took place in Armstrong and the residence of the neighborhood are seen as degenerates in the eyes of the Gannon Police. The lockdown shows us that Gannon has the numbers to lockdown a whole neighborhood and stop them from leaving while clearly still having the force to keep their own streets in Gannon Patrolled. This Armstrong lockdown is the main reason that the high tension between the two groups began. By using force and authority Gannon Police are controlling the neighborhood of Armstrong. Residence are not even allowed to leave even in cases of emergencies which was seen at the very start of the lockdown when Lorenzo came to Armstrong to see what the commotion was about and a lady pleas with Lorenzo to please help her get her mother to a hospital because she needs to go and Gannon was not letting them leave or providing
