People try to help others when sometimes, no help is needed. During the 1800's, the more developed countries from Europe and the United States wished to expand, and help develop other nations. They did this by the process called New Imperialism. One of these developed countries was France, who imperialized Algeria. They did this for many reasons such as nationalism and the White Man's Burden. French Imperialism in Algeria was extremely catastrophic during and after Algerian independence politically, socially and economically. The French’s political impacts were harmful because, the French took over Algeria by force and forced them to do their work. These changes affected Algeria politically, socially, and economically as well. It changed them politically because, after their independence, they were ruled by the National Liberation Front, who changed all the French laws and created a new set of laws.(Britannica) Their rule of life changed as soon as the French left, meaning that they didn't do anything to change their mind about how their country should be run, that makes the imperialism in Algeria useless politically. Next was economical, their source of income changed as well. Under French rule, they worked in the food industry. After they started industrializing rapidly, which makes them more than as food industry. Along with working with Hydrocarbons. (Britannica)The French had them working to suit France, not Algeria. With them gone and Algeria can make a better economy than when they were there. It proves that French imperialism was harmful economically as well. Lastly, there were social changes to Algeria after French imperialism. The majority religion is Islam. One of the reasons for imperialism was to have people change their faith to Christianity.
