Friar Lawrence, Romeo’s mentor helps him with almost everything when Romeo is having a tough time figuring out what to do. Romeo always goes to Friar when necessary, and Friar always manages to help Romeo out. It’s almost like Romeo depends on Friar to fix things out. Friar puts other people issues before his. He is a very wise man, he knows the keys to life! If you’re having a tough time he is your man. Friar is a very good mentor because he is wise, calms people down, and he handles tough situations very well. After the duel between Romeo and Tybalt, Romeo rushes to Friar’s church to seek advice on what to do. Friar Lawrence informs Romeo about his banishment from Verona. Romeo was beyond shocked about his banishment. “There is no world without Verona walls” (Shakespeare 3.3.20). He was destined to live in Mantua after his banishment. Once again Friar Lawrence as the great mentor he is, he calmed Romeo down and made him realize that there is life beyond the Verona walls. The prince could have Romeo killed, but instead he chose banishment. Romeo and Juliet fell in love with each other when they saw each other at the dance.
