Frida Kahlo, a successful painter, was born in Mexico. Growing up she had many complications, but she pushed through them a became a very well known painter from Mexico. Kahlo, being born on July 6 in 1907, enjoyed painting self portraits. Matilda and Wilhelm, Kahlo's parents, had four girls. Kahlo's sister were both younger and older. She had two older sisters named Matilde and Adriana. Her last sister being born I'm 1908 was named Cristina, she was born a year after Kahlo. Kahlo was raised in a house that is now called the "Blue House." When Kahlo was eight years old she was told she had polio. This disease caused her to be in bed for nine months. Kahlo was living in New York and her paintings were in a gallery in New York City. Twelve of her paintings that were in the gallery were sold for some money. A year after her paintings were in the New York City gallery she moved to Paris. In Paris she excelled with her art work. In 1940 Kahlo married Rivera another time. When they got back together Kahlo and Rivera both had many affairs with other people. Around the time when Kahlo was painting five portraits for the Mexican government her father died. After her father died Kahlo was having health problems. With her health problems her paintings were still very popular. She was painting more and more vivid paintings. In 1944 she painted "The Broken Column." Frida Kahlo was nude in the painting and it showed her broken spine. In the painting she had many things wrong, the broken spine, a brace, and had nails on the brace. This was to represent that she was struggling. During the time of the painting she was going through surgery after surgery. After the painting her health got worse and worse. Kahlo died at the age of forty seven seven days after her birthday. She died in the "Blue House"
