Along on his journey he meets two horses, Nellie and Gabilan, where he discovers a long- lasting friendship. Another friendship that he encounters is with an old man, Gitano, where he finds the difference of life and death. He experiences the concept of life and death, the young and old age, and that family will always have a strong bond. As the story progresses, Jody realizes that in some point in life, people die. When Gabilan dies, Jody gets very aggressive. He becomes more aggressive because he does not yet understand why the most important people pass away.
