Throughout Kingsolver’s The Bean Trees, the people throughout the bookl form fast friendships and become important to one another.In the spring, nature goes through the proces of rebirth, what apears to be dead in the winter comes alive, people also go through this proces. It is July 1st, not a single cloud in the sky. Mattie wants Taylor, Estevan, Esperanza, and Lou Ann to come with her to the desert for a special occasion. Taylor and Lou Ann leave their children with Edna and Virgie and get in the car to leave. When Lou Ann steps out of the car she was wondering what are we doing in a dry and lifeless desert. Taylor and Turtle got to a therapist two to three times a week named Cynthia. Cynthia ended up finding out about Turtle’s past and tells Taylor that she can't keep the child. Without a legal guardian, Turtle is a ward of the state. Cynthia tells Taylor that she can keep Turtle if she can find Turtles legal guardians and get a signature. Taylor has to drive all the way to Oklahoma to find Turtles parents, she also decided to take Estevan and Esperanza to a new safe house. After getting in the car Estevan and Esperanza dressed up like americans all while trying to cross the border. The border patrol looks into their window and lets them pass. Before Taylor brings them to the safe house she asks Estevan and Esperanza if they are up for one last thing. Taylor told them that they have to act like turtles parents and sign Turtle over to Taylor. Estevan and Esperanza were up for the challenge and walked into the adoption agencies and signed Turtle away to Taylor. Taylor, Esperanza, and Estevan all risked their live for Turtles new
