A good scientist is innovative, knows how to use new technology and is honest when it comes to sharing their information and findings. While a good scientist can work alone in the office, a good scientist knows the importance of sharing information and findings and keeping others updated. While new technologies are constantly becoming available a good scientist knows how to use it and is not afraid of change. The documentary, “NOVA: Hunt for Alien Worlds” discusses the idea of planet hunting and shows how different scientist work independently, yet also rely on each others findings in order to progress their search for new planets.

To make things even more difficult the swirling atmosphere of the earth makes stars “twinkle” and those variations can obscure the wobbling stars. As a result observers have found that it actually eliminates the problem when observing stars in space. While scientist have tried to observe the stars in many different ways scientist are sharing their information with each other in order to work towards the shared goal of finding a planet like Earth in our galaxy. Fritz Benedict discusses his work using the Hubble Telescope, the most expensive telescope in the world which is located in the Earths orbit. Because this telescope is not affected by the swirling atmosphere on earth it should give him an edge on the observers on Earth. While Benedict discusses his use of the Hubble Telescope and shares his frustration with the amount of time he has been able to use it while it is much more efficient at seeing the “wobble” the telescope is also used for much more important uses and “planet hunting” is low
