Anne Frank was born on June 12, 1929, in Frankfurt, Germany. Anne had two parents, Otto and Edith, and one sister named Margot. The whole family was Jewish. At the age of 13, the Franks left their home in Germany and moved to Amsterdam in a secret annex to get away from the Nazi. The family went in hiding with a total of eight people. The people who lived in the annex with the Franks were the Van Pels family and Fritz Pfeffer. Everyone was in hiding for about two years before they were discovered by the Nazi soldiers. Miep Gies and Victor Kruler helped out in hiding the families in the attic of a business building on Prinsengracht 263 in Amsterdam. Everyone in hiding was found and taken to concentration camps. In "The Diary of Anne Frank," a play based on Anne’s life and her the diary she wrote, it shows Anne getting everyone living in hiding with her, a gift for Hanukkah. This exact event may not have happened in real life, but many times throughout the play, Anne is shown doing things for others and putting them before herself. When Anne is giving out these gifts, she tells how she either made them herself, they belonged to her before, or she bought them with the little money she had. Now, Anne did not need to give these gifts to anybody. Anne chose to because she is a good person, and is always positive. By giving out these gifts, she boosted everyone’s spirits and made them happier. Anne was always making other people happier, and that made her a good person. Anne was only 13 years old when she went into hiding, and was 15 when she passed in a concentration camp. She was always optimistic even when she was always in danger. "Peter, where are you going? Come dance with me," Anne asks in line 858 of act one scene three. When Anne asks Peter to dance with her, all she wants to do is have fun, and act like a kid. Unfortunately, while Anne is in hiding, she has an extremely limited time to talk, let alone dance. Because of this, she tried to do all she could to have a good time and make the best of her situation. In act one scene four line 2281 of the play, "The Diary of Anne Frank" Anne writes in her diary, "The air raids are getting worse.... The noise is terrifying." The sound of the airplanes that are fighting in the war scare Anne. A child, or anyone, should never have to go through a war, so when Anne says that she believes that everyone is good, shows a great deal about her and her character traits. Most people in that time period, would say that people are horrible. Anne on the other hand, does not think that about
