“The development of a human being progresses as a person matures” (From the Expert: Developmental Stages, n.d.). As one moves from infancy, to adolescence, to adulthood, the hope is that the environment and the resources enhanced a productive progression that is evident. Unfortunately that is not always the case. In this paper, I will discuss my current stage of development according to the theories of Erikson, Kohlberg, and Fowler and why I chose them. Any struggles or resistance in my development will be mentioned. The principles or faith, influences and/or life experiences that have or had a substantial impact on my choices or life directions will be presented. I like how Dr. George Boerce explains it, “The person at this level sees morality as a matter of entering into a rational contract with one’s fellow human beings to be kind to each other, respect authority, and follow laws to the extent that they respect and promote those universal values” (Moral Development, n.d.). I do believe in obeying the law and that is one of the reasons I chose human resource. Thankfully I have grown from a place of do’s and don’ts/ right and wrong to a place where I can now live. This stage is one that is able to recognize that the divine is personal and abstract, transcendent and immanent, both mysterious and knowable, both hidden and revealed (From the Expert: Moral Development, n.d.). Being in this stage has allowed me to leave my logical way of thinking and begin to see life as a mystery.
