The video on PBS frontline Dropout Nation is about a school in Texas known as a dropout factory. Sharpstown high school is a school known for having kids who will likely drop out, are pregnant, and live in poverty. The video follows the stories of four teenagers at risk of becoming high school dropouts.
Marcus is a high school junior and he lives and struggles with having alcoholic parents. He struggles with getting to school on time often arriving for only half of the school day. His passion is playing football. Marcus got into a physical fight at school that caused him to be arrested and put in jail. After he was released from jail he began attending school again to continue pursuing his dream of playing football. The good behavior only lasted 2-3 weeks. He began “hustling” in the streets and stopped going to school. After another realization by Marcus he moved in with Brandi Brevard the Campus Improvement Coordinator. On the last day of school Marcus punches a student during class disappointing everyone that has fought for his case. He returns to school the next year as a junior again.

He is a second year senior at Sharpstown high school with anger issues. His main problem is not being able to control his anger with problems at school. Lawrence has a history of being involved with drugs and gangs as well as dealing with the problems that come from having a incarcerated mother. Lawrence had a big fight at school with Brevard when he refused to take the SATs. After the argument he dropped out of high school. He lasted a few weeks out of school and soon realized he needed to go back. He went back to Sharpstown high school and enrolled into their twilight school, which allows students to finish high school on their time. He stopped going after three
