The future of immigration laws and policies will eventually change as the years go by. Most people believe that it will change for the worst, while others believe it will change for the best. There will be many upcoming changes to the immigration policies under Donald Trump, some will be positive and some will be negative. The new policies can either increase or decrease immigration. Hopefully, immigration will increase to allow America to keep a stable economy. Immigration has changed over the past generations and will continue to change drastically within the next century. The United States immigration policy has went through three major phases throughout America’s history. It has went through the the laissez-faire, qualitative restrictions, …show more content…
For instance: jobs, economic processes, social processes, and political processes that make up America (Hipsman, Meissner 1). Immigration plays a big role in the changing of the size and composition of America’s population (Duignan 6). Immigrants are more willing to work certain jobs that American’s are not willing to work in. In Ewing’s article he states, “Between 2015 and 2016, the estimated growth in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) attributable to immigrant workers amounted to nearly $2 trillion, according to a report from the National Academy of Sciences (NAS).” (2). There has been a study that has projections that show new immigrants and their families will increase United States population growth in the next fifty years (Cohn 1). More projections show that seventy eight million people will be immigrants out of four hundred and forty-one million American’s and eighty one million will be those with immigrant parents (Cohn 1). This could alter the face of electorate, education levels, and the nation’s birth patterns (Cohn 1). Causcation people currently make up sixty two percent of America’s population, however in 2065, they will make up forty six percent (Cohn 1). Hispanics currently make up eighteen percent of the population, but in 2065 hispanics will make up twenty four percent (Cohn 2). In 2065, Asians will be at fourteen percent while they make up six percent of the population currently (Cohn 2). African
