Over the entire course I have developed many new writing skills that will forever use in future writing assignments. I feel that my writing has truly improved over my time in this class. I feel like I have learned so many new writing and reading skills that have only impacted my reading and writing in positive ways. Throughout the writing progress of each and every essay, I feel that my writing skills have truly grown and only will expand further on in my college years. Personally, I feel that writing these essay over the course, I was provided with the opportunity to only expand on my writing and reading skills, allowing me to read and write at a higher level than I am use to. Before college and before reading a text, I would usually tend to highlight everything and give a two to three word description of the paragraph. On the other hand, in college, now I have developed the correct technique that I need to correctly read and annotation the important information only. Another new writing technique that I developed over my time in this course is summarizing a reading with struggling. Before my time in this class I usually never knew what the author was talking about and felt like I was completely lost. Other times I would read like three to four pages and my mind would just be completely blank and was able to fully understand what was the point that the author is trying to make. Now that I have experienced and developed the skill of summarizing readings in this course, I feel like I have learned the proper skills I need to summarize reading, I somewhat feel like I am a semi pro at summarizing a reading now. I am now able to write a pretty decent one to two sentence summary of the paragraph, including a great description of what the author is saying in …show more content…
Seeing with my own eyes how my work has developed over time is crazy, from the little details to the big details, I can truly see a huge growth in my writing and reading skills. I will always use these skills throughout my final portfolio and the rest of my college years. Reflecting on the course and my writing, I feel like I really did give my one hundred percent in all of work from labor and mindful practice to essays to inquisitive activity and many more. When I first started this class, I am not going to lie I was very intimidated because English has never been my best subject, but now I love this class and its context, I feel that I have grown so much in my writing and reading skills. I feel that I have taken the work of this course very seriously because I really wanted to improve in my writing and reading skills and the only way that I could do that was to stay motivated and take the course seriously. All these reading and writing skills that I have developed over my time in this course are extremely significant to me and I will always use and keep in the back of my mind during my future college years. I truly believe that the writing and reading strategies have impacted my future writing and reading college life in positive ways.
