Gabrielle Christina Victoria Douglas is a well known American Gymnast. She was born on December 31, 1995 and is currently 22 years old. When Gabby was only three-years old, she learned how to do a perfect cartwheel by watching her older sister and fell in love with the sport. By age four she taught herself how to do a one-handed cartwheel. After four long years, her sister Arielle, convinced her mother to let Gabby Join Gymnastics and with just two years of training she was the new Virginia State Gymnastics Champion. She later moved to Iowa and Ohio to train with some of the best coaches. In 2010, Gabby was a gold medalist on the uneven bars at the Pan American Championships and silver medalist on the beam at the US Junior National Championship. Also because, she was the first person colored person of any race to win the all-around competition and she was the first olympian to win the team and all-around medals. During her 18 years of dedication and sacrifices, Gabby Douglas has become one of the most popular and successful gymnasts. Lastly, she is notable due to the fact that she has earned 12 gold medals, 3 silver medals, and 1 bronze medal in less than 7 years.
I chose Gabby Douglas because she is a positive inspiration to many and because she is dedicated to her work. She also teaches people to never give up and to dream big. I also chose her because she is a perfect example of how hard work and never giving up will pay off because when she was younger her mother wasn't able to afford gymnastics but gabby’s dedication changed that.
In conclusion, at only 21 years old, Gabby is one of the most important gymnasts. Furthermore, she is one of the six best gymnasts in the US. Lastly, with her 16 medals and all of her high scores, she is one of the few highly decorated artistic
