Galileo Galilei vs Giordano Bruno
For this assignment, I chose 2 scientists that have always fascinated me - Galileo Galilei and Giordano Bruno. They both have been followers of Copernicus, and both stood their ground for what they believed. It can be very hard to think who contributed to our world more, but it is what I will look at in this assignment.
Galileo Galilei was born on February 15th, 1564, in Pisa. Most of his childhood is covered by the mist of time, but it’s known that young Galileo was quite passionate about art and music, and his written pieces show that he was a good writer.

In 1589, 25-year-old Galilei returns to the University of Pisa, this time as a professor of mathematics. There he started many mechanical and mathematical research and experiments. He got a professor’s minimum wage: 60 crowns per year. In 1590, he wrote his “Impetus Theory” treatise.
In 1592 Galileo got a placement in the prestigious and wealthy University of Padua. He started teaching astronomy, mechanics and mathematics. Galileo quickly became very ‘popular’ in the university, and soon, he was the most famous professor in all of Padua. His new research was motivated by Kepper’s Supernova. Hearing that in Holland, something like a spyglass was created, Galileo constructed the first telescope. What he saw was, for him, amazing. Galileo found mountains on the Moon; the Milky Way fell apart into separate stars; Jupiter gained 4 new
