[Each of the five families that make up what was called “The Commission” remained the heart of organized crime in New York. The family that we will review during this paper is the Gambino Family. The Gambino family has a part in many illegal operations throughout the world. They have relationships with other organized crime groups and even terrorist organizations. The family is involved in labor racketeering, extortion, money laundering, prostitution, drug trafficking, loansharking, murder, and illegal gambling. Family members have been implicated in these crimes over the years.
