Gar Apelovitz was an author, historian, and journalist during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Apelovitz worked on a book about the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, these bombings ended World War II. Apelovitz was involved in the research and study of the bomb at the end of the war. He wrote a book in 1996 called The Decision to Use the Atomic Bomb and the Architecture of an American Myth. Through his book Apeloviz talks about his research that argued the atomic bomb was unwarranted in the ending of World War II. It showed that the Japanese wanted to surrender.
