Gary Ridgway was the most prolific convicted serial killer in United States history. He was born February 18, 1949 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He committed numerous murders. Gary was extremely elusive to the law. Due to lack of techknowledgey the police department wasn't able to build a strong case against him at the time. Killings started in 1982.

That right there showed his parents what path he was starting to go down. He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. On July 15, 1982, children were playing just like children do and next thing everyone knew they found a strangled body, body of Wendy Coffield, 16, of Puyallup, in the Green River. Next, on August 16, four more young women were found in or near the Green River. On December 3, 1982, Rebecca Marrero, 20, was last seen leaving a SeaTac motel, but wasn’t reported missing until July 20, 1984, two years later. Then, on April 30, 1983 the police attention turned towards Gary L. Ridgway, this occurs when victim Marie Malvar disappears. Her boyfriend followed a pickup suspected in the disappearance of his girlfriend. The pickup was identified as Ridgway’s. Ridgway denied any contact with Malvar. Also, on November 20 1983, police said that the same man had killed 11 women found in South King County since summer 1982. Furthermore, on May 1984 Ridgway contacted the Green River Task Force, to offer information. He passed a polygraph examination. Then, on April 8, 1987 police searched the home and vehicles of Ridgway, who was the last person seen with at least two of the victims. The victim list is now 46.
