As one walks the face of the earth, there are many direct and indirect pressures that persuade an individual to believe that they are not capable of living a life like most. In the movie Gattaca, the pressure that is put on the individual comes from one's parents. Parents are the backbone to their child’s ability to prosper. The movie takes place in the future, where it is possible and legal if not better said “suggested” that you genetically modify your child. Genetically modifying your child ensures them to be well off when they grow up, but it also has the downside of completely changing him or herself, into becoming something that they should've been. Vincent had a high chance of having heart problems and had a life expectancy of 32 years. Although they didn't want to admit it, Vincent’s parents were devastated with the results and thrived to become better parents by genetically motoring their second child to be absolutely amazing. Though his brother Anton may have had all the qualities and blood to become whatever he desired, there was one thing that Anton was lacking that Vincent wasn’t, and that was determination, and passion to succeed in life, those aren't qualities that you can give a child, those are qualities that one is born with. The movie Gattaca is presented with Vincent, an individual that had hopes and dreams, along with Jerome, a character who wasn't physically stable to fulfill his desires. When individuals, they are both completely and utterly miserable, but when they come together they had the ability to light each other up. The impact on Vincent was greater than the impact on Jerome. Vincent may not have succeeded by societies rules, but did in fact succeed. It is evident that one’s ambition can alter the views and perspectives of oneself and others; this can lead the individual to live a life where they feel as if they don't belong. An individuals desire to achieve does in fact have impact's on oneself and others, they can be affected positively or negatively it just determines how much you are willing to do, in order to
