Marriage should be about love . Speaking as A active member of the LGBT community , nobody should be denied the opportunity to marry the one they love . Happily , same-sex marriage has just been legalized in many other states . However , there are still people who would make judgements about others ? love and their rights . Someone going against or disagreeing with me would probably say something like “Marriage should be between a man and a woman” or “It’s against the bible.” My response to the person’s counterclaim would be something like, “ If you are really in love and want to spend the rest of your life with that person you should be able to marry them. Think of it the other way around, you can only marry someone of the same sex and you fell in love with someone of the opposite sex, how would you react? Would you want to marry that special someone? Would you try to change the law?

Secondly, not allowing same sex couples to marry is a form of discrimination. The definition of discrimination is unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories or people or things. So not allowing couples to get married contradicts the equality that this country supposedly stands for . God created all mankind in his image; therefore we all have his capabilities for love, creativity and tolerance. At the end of the day all loving families forgive and accept. There are many arguments against same-sex marriage. “We have to protect traditional marriage.” “It is unnatural.” “What about the effects on the children they raise?” These arguments are not very strong. There is nothing wrong with same-sex marriage, and it is not a threat to society.

People who are against same-sex marriage argue that it should not be legalized so as “to protect traditional marriage and the traditional family”. Protect it from what? What is so dangerous about same sex marriage that we have to protect “normal” marriage? This isn’t a war. Same sex marriage can’t harm families. Marriage isn’t exactly the same as it used to be, either. Interracial marriage used to be illegal. Wives used to be their husbands’ property. Another point would be heterosexual marriages are often made a mockery of ! Look at Kim Kardashian her wedding lasted all of 42 days before getting a divorce and yet people like myself cannot share that same privilege with someone whom I plan to spend the rest of my life with .

Another argument is that homosexuality is unnatural. It is found outside humanity. Penguins and dolphins, for example, show homosexuality and bisexuality in the wild as well as when captive. Being gay is like being “left-handed sexually”: part of the natural spectrum. The American Psychological Association supports homosexuality and same sex marriage. Their reasons?
