The plot of Daughters of Fortune starts with Eliza growing up and falling in love with Joquín. Then after they fall in love Joquín moves to California to work and Eliza finds out she is pregnant. Eliza’s family that adopted her doesn’t know about the pregnancy so Eliza decides to go after Joquín and find him. Then Eliza travels to California and stays with Toa.Characters are Eliza (main character), Joquín (Eliza’s love), Rose Sommer (Eliza’s adopted mother), John Sommer (Rose’s brother), Mama Fesia (taught Eliza how to cook and was the Sommers servant), Toa Chi’en (was with Eliza throughout the traveling). On the boat you can picture the dark gloomy room she is stuck in. The most critical moment of the book I think is when Eliza travels to meet up with her love, Joquin. The story of how they met was pretty crucial plus the relationship was a secret so Eliza going after him was a big risk. She left her whole life just so that she could maybe see him. Eliza went through a lot of changes on the way over not only physically but emotionally too.

I would like to capture the moment that wasn’t really described in the book. I want to talk about Joquin’s ride over to California. He left his life too, in Chile he also left his love Eliza so that he can make a life for himself. I want to start off in Chile as he leaves, then the everyday life on the boat. The setting is going to be on an old wooden packed boat.

We all worked together to scrape up all of the money we had to rent this place and by the first payment we were kicked out. So we started jumping place to place. The money started coming in regularly and the idea of going back wasn’t on my mind. I started to picture my life out here. I didn’t want to go back to working for Mr. Sommers or have to explain myself to Eliza. I don’t want to leave her there by herself but I know she will find someone better, maybe she already has. Rose would want someone better then me for her daughter anyway. I began to stop focusing on that and start focusing on my new life out here.

I left my roommates and started talking to a new group. They showed me another way to get money faster. It was dangerous work but it was worth the pay increase. I had so much money I didn’t even know what to do with it. The line of work I joined was against the law; I’m not proud of it but I get what I want out of it. I started talking to a new girl too. I met her at one of the restaurants and we just clicked. She’s nothing like Eliza, she lives here and wasn’t brought up in a rich family. Tonight I have a new job offer they told me it the most dangerous one that we have done. I still have decided to
