Gender roles can be seen as a controversial topic. For instance, many men still view that women should be stay at home moms, rather than going to work. However, over the few past years, many women have broken this barrier. Many women are slowly dominating jobs that once were for men. In texts such as Gilgamesh and Midrash, a person can note how women were defined since the beginning of time. In Gilgamesh, Shamhat is viewed as a sex object rather than a human being. In the Midrash, Lilith can be viewed as the first feminist. In Gilgamesh, Shamhat’s main objective is to civilize Enkidu. Though Shamhat’s job is being a prostitute, the way that she is being addressed is making her seem like a sex object, rather than a human. “[T]ell her to strip
