The scene from High Noon where Will Kane and Amy Kane are talking in Kane's office a few hours prior to the noon train leaving shows us the tension between man as an outlaw hero and man as an official hero in 1950's America. Will displays his hero persona throughout High Noon, but most apparently in this scene. He has just found out that gang member Frank Miller who he had previously sentenced to hang but walked away as a free man is back in the town to stand up to him. His new bride Amy questions him on choosing to stay because he has just been released his responsibility of being town's Marshal. He however, insistently explains to her his moral compulsion to remain and protect himself and other townspeople. This is a typical example of gender
