Throughout history, men have always been considered the “dominant” gender - they were the ones to go out and work while women stayed at home to tend for their children. Women haven’t been able to vote or serve in the military until about 1920.
In the modern day, women are paid approximately twenty cents less than men of equal skill in the same job. According to iwpr.org, in 2014, female full-time workers made only 79 cents for every dollar earned by men, a gender wage gap of 21 percent.
