Gene Kelly was an amazing broadway and tap dancer. He was born August 23, 1912 in.Kelly's health declined steadily in the late 1980s. A stroke in July 1994 resulted in a seven-week hospital stay and another stroke in early 1995 left Kelly mostly bedridden in his Beverly Hills home. He died in his sleep at 8:15 a.m. on February 2, 1996, and was cremated, without funeral or memorial services.

On the Town, An American in Paris and Singin’ in the Rain showed Kelly at his best—in front of the camera as well as behind the scenes. He served as choreographer for all three, was co- director with Stanley Donen for On the Town and Singin’ in the Rain and was the unofficial co-director for An American in Paris.

Gene Inspires me because he didn’t have an easy life because he was made fun of for dancing his father wanted him to be interested in sports and it took a frustrating ride to become a famous dancer. In the end he made it because he knew he wanted to be a great dancer and he worked very hard to get to where he got he didn't just wake up one day and became an amazing dancer it took work but he never gave up. That inspires me because I love to dance and I’m not the best but I am determined to be the best I can be I know I won’t be a famous dancer like he was but I love to dance and it makes me happy.

He didn’t become famous right away it took him time for Hollywood to see how talented he was, and plus he started later in life than most dancers so it was hard to become a professional
