Most people have read Dr. Seuss books as children and just remember them as funny rhyming stories, but actually, mostly all the books have deeper meanings. They help children and also adults grow in ways most people do not realize. Dr. Seuss is a well-established writer and has written at least 50 books in his lifetime, everyone in America has read or was read to at least one of his books at some point in life. Each book has different underlying meanings and symbols to them that can easily be overlooked by a child. Everyone can also get different interpretations or messages from these stories as well. Dr. Seuss stories has multiple stories that do this in different ways for individuals. I Had Trouble in Getting to Solla Sollew, the main character endures many challenges throughout his journey due to bad luck and eventually when he is close to his destination he ends up not even being able to enter, but instead of taking the easy way out and going to the city of Boola Boo Ball after his long strenuous journey to Solla Sollew he makes another decision. He finally gathers the courage to go back to his house in Valley of Vung passing all the horrible things again ready with a bat and says "Now my troubles are going to have troubles with me!" (I Had Trouble in Getting to Solla Sollew, page 34) . This shows that despite the unfortunate problems people may encounter at some points in their life that they should not run away from these problems but instead, just like the main character in the story did, face them head on with the help of courage. There will always be a problem in life, whether a person is young or old, whether it is minor or major, it is inevitable to not have any problems. It is good to realize even though life is full of problems it is good to be ready for them and face them with courage. His stories also help people grow mentally by making us more aware, like in The Lorax. It shows us the negative side effects of what happens when you are too greedy. Being greedy is, of course, a bad trait to have but this story shows what can happen. The main character chops down the Truffula trees without acknowledging the fact that he was destroying the homes of others, he continues to do so and eventually destroys the whole forest and chops down all the Truffula trees.
