The whole passage of Gettssburg Address including two hundreds and seventy one words, consists of ten sentences, every sentence has twenty seven point one words in average, and the shortest just ten words, the longest-the last sentence has eigthy two words, much more longer than what we said in daily life, used a special but acceptable to describe the development direction of that nations, inspired people struggle for liberty and equality. As for sentence composition, seven sentences beginning with a subject which make the listener catch the main information about this speech; What's more complicated is the tense, most of the tense is the present tense(12). There also exist past tense (8), future tense (5) and perfect tense (4), this was decided by the character of this speech-a ceremony to honor the Gettysburg National Cemetery, to encourage people fight for triumph of the civil war. In this speech, some unusual words such as consecrate, hallow, perish was more than others, some words like "four scores and seven years ago " can be substitute by "eigthy -seven years ago ", at the beginning we may feel it was too complex to use those complicated words, but when we concern about this speech itself, it's suitable to do that, those expression make the speech language more formal and more serious , just the same as the emotional expression in it. And there is an unusual phenomena is the use of personal pronouns, most of the personal pronouns is first person "I", "we", "our", "us", and there is no the second person "you", just used once "they" to represent the people who sacrificed for the county, and the reason why this phenomena occur will be discussed in the third part, the interpersonal function in speeches and
