Aengus decided to spend his entire life searching for a woman he only saw once, and even though he never found her he was still joyful. Ghulam Ali was an incredibly nice man who took upon himself to take a girl with a prosthetic leg and a mother with asthma across the border. Farah Ahmedi, only a young girl, but she still undertook the mission of getting her and her mother out of their war-torn country. However, all three of these brave people worked tirelessly to achieve their goals.
Aengus was only a young man when his life changed. Once, when he was fishing, he caught a trout and as he was preparing to cook it, it transformed into a woman. The text states, “[the trout] had become a glimmering girl”(Aengus 13). Not only did she change into this, she also knew his name. As a result of this, he was driven to find her, he searched everywhere. According to the passage, “[I have searched] Through hollow lands and hilly lands”(Aengus 18). He didn’t just look through a couple places either, he searched until he became elderly. His mission was to find the glimmering girl, and even though he didn’t, he worked diligently to look for her.

She had to work arduously to overcome numerous obstacles to get them across the border. She wanted to cross the normal way, but she quickly figured out the guards were only letting people who bribed them. The author states, “Yet we had no real chance of getting through” (Ahmedi 2). Even after this failure, she persevered. She found a nice man who would help them cross the border to a better life. The only way to cross the border was to hike over a steep mountain. This was another challenge for Farah due to her prosthetic leg. The speaker says, “I had that good prosthetic leg”(Ahmedi 12).
