The mother called this worker at 2:06 P.M. and asked if she could have the visit at the house of Eric’s mother, Melanie, since they were packing their belongings before heading back to the shelter by 8:00 P.M. on the same day. Eric’s brother was talking to two men in front of the parking garage. As soon as Gillian spotted a stripped polecat held by one of the two men, she got out of the car and greeted the person. Gillian commented, “It’s so cute.” Walking out from the side entrance, Eric greeted Gillian. The mother was talking to her general assistance case worker about her benefits. When the wind carried the cigarette smoke towards the mother, she politely asked Eric not to smoke during the visit when Gillian was present. The mother shared the incident that had happened to her at the shelter, in which her bike’s tires and frame were stolen by a male stranger. According to the mother, the shelter’s staff did not protect her from the incident. In addition, the man’s girlfriend threatened to harm her and left a cup of urine in her pile of clothes. They were finally arrested by the police for stealing. However, the mother and Eric lost their means of transportation and had been taking public transportation. They could not afford to replace the bicycle’s tires at the moment. Gillian told Eric that she had a bike for him which would need some work done before usage. When Gillian was informed by this worker that Coco, Melanie’s 16-year-old Pomeranian, died a few days ago, Gillian asked Eric if she could talk to Melanie. She asked Eric how his mother was doing after her loss. Eric replied, “okay but she needs condolences.” He ha to briefly explained to Gillian the definition of condolences.
