The term “ethic of care” was developed from Gilligan’s (1982) argument regarding the moral development of women (Anderson & Turner, 2010). Gilligan’s model focuses on women’s morality that highlights the concepts of caring and responsibility rather than rights and rules. This model of ethic of care presents the highest moral obligation that requires taking care of needs and sustaining relationships, and it has been suggested it develops from an “individual’s feeling of interconnectedness with others and that it is contextual and arises from experience” (Anderson & Turner, 2010).
