I am going to be giving you my knowledge and information on brain tumors. There are many different kinds of brain tumors, but, the ones I am going to be telling you about are Glioma brain tumors, Oligodendroglioma brain tumors, and Schwannoma brain tumors. Brain tumors can be either benign, malignant, or they can be both by starting off as benign and turning malignant. Brain tumors arise from the meninges and not from the actual neurons themselves. They originate from a specific cell or structure and whichever one they originate from is how they get their name. The different treatment options that are possible are surgery to remove or debulk the tumor, chemotherapy drugs, or radiation therapy but that is only for malignant tumors.
Glioma brain tumors
Glioma brain tumors are an example of a tumor that is both benign and malignant. This tumor gets its name because it’s a general tumor for a tumor that arises in the supportive tissue in the brain. There are two types of Gliomas that are named for its location and those are optic nerve glioma and brain stem glioma. They originate from any neuroglial cell. These types of tumors are usually very slow growing. Some common symptoms are one-sided hearing loss or buzzing and ringing in your ear, dizziness can also occur. If it is present in the 7th cranial nerve facial paralysis is also a common symptom. Schwannoma brain tumors account for almost 8% of primary tumors.
