Global warming controversy is an ongoing dispute about the effects of humans and species on global climate; about what policies should be enacted to avoid possible effects of climate change. Global warming is the cause of a set of changes to Earth’s climate; over the past fifty years there has been evidence of glaciers melting, sea levels rising, and cloud forests dying. As the temperatures rise, land is getting wetter or hotter making it difficult for humans and other species to adapt to the changing climate with moisture and precipitation levels changing. Global warming puts every living organism in a difficult living situation, as well as putting many species at risk for extinction. An example of this would be polar bears and penguins, they are in different locations but share the same problem; these two different animals depend on the cold and snow to survive, but as the earth becomes warmer, the snow will turn to rain and will increase the chances of freezing to death. …show more content…
Pollutants normally escape into space, but certain pollutants can stay in the atmosphere for years; as the pollutants are in the atmosphere they trap heat and cause the earth to get warmer, this is also known as the greenhouse effect. One of the largest sources of heat-trapping emissions in the United States is the burning of fossil fuels; it’s not only harmful to the environment but also harmful to our health, when fossil fuels are burned for energy it releases large amounts of carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide
