San Francisco over the years has seen drastic change around itself, with it being a metropolis it will forgo infinite amounts of new buildings, new trends, and new people; however, San Francisco has failed to change its educational system. SFUSD has remained in the same state over the last fifty plus years, with an immense focus point on segregation within our system. In a quote by Matt Haney, SFUSD school board president stated, “If Abraham Lincoln were to become alive again and look around, this radio station, these cell phones would be drastically different to him but once he would see the education in our country it would still be pretty close to what it was back then through his eyes.” In our modern day how do we find solutions to move forward for a more advanced educational system, and mostly how can we diversify our schools? The key to reintegration is made up of various factors: magnet schools, cultural/language programs, federal government involvement, transportation/housing, and an overall incentive to lure parents to certain schools. The Golden Ticket method is a tacket that has been thought of around SFUSD for a duration of time. The sole purpose of the Golden Ticket method is to create an appeal to families to enroll in low performing schools in an assortment of low income districts. If families were to take the Golden Ticket Method then for example, if they enrolled in an elementary like Cleveland Elementary that is categorized as academically low performing, then later on for high school and middle school they could get a seat at a top notch performing public school.
