You may be surprised that a movie about a fast food summer job would have a lot to do with economics, but the movie Good Burger can teach about basic economics. This paper will explain competition between Good Burger, the sole proprietorship, and Mondo burger, a newly founded franchise. Also it will show the advantages and disadvantages between Good Burger and Mondo Burger. Finally how ethics is involved with good burger and mono burger.
Competition is very important to the economy because it keeps prices low for the consumers. Good burger and Mondo Burger were in competition due to their location and because they're in the same Market. For example Onondaga Lake, factories dumped large amounts of chemicals into the lake because they didn't want to take care of them. This was unethical and still affects people to this day. Companies strongly contribute to pollution releasing dangerous gases into the air by burning fuels in factories. Two million people die every year due to air pollution. Mondo Burger used illegal chemicals to enlarge the size of their burgers without using any more meat. In the movie Ed try to feed a dog with a Mondo Burger and he wouldn't eat it. This shows how harmful chemicals can be and the safety of the customers should always come before profits. Even in Good Burger there is some unethical things involved. One example would be the contract Dexter Made Ed Sign. Also the fact that Dexter and Ed snuck into the kitchen looking for what made the Mondo burger so big. Ethics not as much of a problem today than it was during the Industrial Revolution. Kids would work long hours every day with little to no pay.
