A risk causes people to be vulnerable to an unwanted, or unhealthy, event that could increase the severity of an undesired event. It is helpful to know the risk factors for heart disease so you know how to prevent heart failure. The older a person is, the more likely they are to develop a condition. Gender, family history, tobacco, alcohol intake, the amount of exercise, diet, cholesterol, diabetes, and blood pressure are all risk factors for heart disease. Some risk factors are under a person’s control, while others increase, so does the risk. Some religious groups don’t believe in modern medicine, and they would rather pray for help. Rising costs of health care are preventing people from getting the help they need. The heart, lung, and blood institute estimate costs for cardiovascular disease and treatment was over 475 billion. For a while now, people have been focused and determined on discovering risk factors to help prevent the disease from getting worse. The concept of risk factors and using them to prevent individual health outcomes is relatively new. When people go to the doctor and the doctor says “You are at a 5 to 7 percent chance of having a heart attack in the next 5 years”, people look at that as a way to determine how to live their lives. This article helps me because it provides information for my research paper that I did not know about. It also has my first major problems. Some people believe that only prayer can help them, and not modern medicine. Another is that when people hear news that isn’t good or bad, they think it’s a free pass to live an unhealthy lifestyle. This article helps because it provides facts about risk factors that can be used for note cards while writing the research paper. It explains risk factors in depth and what to ask your doctor to take necessary steps to improve heart health.

Heart disease affects the lives of millions of Americans and is the leading cause of death in men and women. Heart disease develops as you grow older, and depending on how you live your life decides whether your heart fails or not. A family history of heart disease is an important risk factor. If other family members have had heart disease in the past, it is important for you to take the necessary steps to prevent heart disease to stop your heart from failing. Get regular exercise. Exercise helps to keep coronary arteries unblocked and keeps a healthy blood flow. It also helps your mood and helps prevent obesity. Quit smoking. Smoking causes all sorts of health problems. It causes an unsafe rise in cholesterol, cancer, stroke, blood clots, and it narrows arteries. Reduce weight. Increased weight increases blood pressure, which makes your heart work harder. Eat healthy. Eating poorly reduces the amount of necessary nutrients and causes fatty build up in the coronary arteries. Reduce stress. Stress increases blood pressure and blood cholesterol content. Calm down! I can use this article because it’s all about preventing heart disease and ultimately, heart failure. It provides key factors in preventing heart disease which I can put into my paper. It explains more in depth why these prevention techniques help, and I can also put that in my paper. It also has a few quick risk factors and has some new facts.

Summary: Congenital heart disease occurs when the heart does not develop properly before birth. Infants who have this need surgery to survive, and will most likely endure problems in the future. Patent ductus arteriosus is an effect on the heart that causes an opening in the aorta. Adults who had this condition as an infant will need some sort of heart treatment. Hypoplastic left heart syndrome happens when the left side of the heart is underdeveloped. Obstruction defects can cause a wide variety of problems such as narrowing of the arteries, or the bicuspid not fully developing. Any of these early life…
