Suspense, Symbolism, and Gothic elements are the main parts of a story that lead to the climax.In The Fall Of The House Of Usher they both have the effect of all three elements leading up to the climax and an incredible ending.

Suspense In The Fall Of The House Of Usher is known throughout the whole story, from the climax and back down to the incredible ending. A quotation of suspense would be " The door opens and Madeline is there, she is bloody and falls on Roderick and they both die. Soon after the house crumbles". This shows a dangerous action occurring as the climax is building up. Another suspense idea would be when the narrator notices blush in Madeline's cheeks as they were putting her in the coffin. For instance gloomy atmospheres are found in this quotation "Minute fungi overspreading whole exterior". This indicates the physical denotation of the Usher house and shows the tone of sickening and destruction the house. Another representation would be "A fissure in the foundation in the Usher house". This symbolizes the cracks in the house which also represents the Usher family and the tone is also oppression as the history of the house gets dreary. Another example would be when there was the sicking of the heart. This symbolizes the evilness and mad history of the Ushers which creates the harsh tone in the gothic story, this also sets an unsetting atmosphere. Another example would be "During the whole of a dull, dark, and soundless day'.The symbolizes the Ushers are not sane as they live in these conditions which gives the tone of doom while the house is dreary surrounded with gothic painting on the wall of house of the Ushers. Most of the gothic ideas that were presented in the story were know as gloomy atmospheres that had imagery and symbolic ideas involved.

In the end of the story The Fall of The House Of Usher has three main elements in the story that lead to the climax and to an incredible ending. Those three elements are suspense, symbolism and a gothic element. Although this gothic story had many of those particular ideas that indicated the story and lead to the climax, the story had many suspenseful ideas
