Every established society has had some form of government in place. Government is best defined as a group of people who have the power to make and enforce laws for a country or area. Therefore by definition a government can choose and decide the limitation and growth of any persons standing in society. Through knowing this one would like to believe that freewill could be an option and in most cases it still is. The government has instituted several programs to help in aiding those persons who lack the resources and to teach them how to use those resources. It then becomes the decision of the person to decide how much they will allow government to play a role in their lives and society. The government should institute programs towards economical and educational control, but the people should have the choice to decide whether or not to allow these programs to be used.
The government is supposed to be the voice of the people. The purpose of government is to actively voice and represent the views on the people. Government officials are elected by the people in order to represent the masses, therefore the decisions that government makes should reflect the views and well-being of the people. Thomas Jefferson states in his Declaration of Independence:
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these
