S.E. Hinton had written the novel, “The Outsiders”, which takes place during the 60’s in Tulsa Oklahoma. The story demonstrates part of the 60’s culture through fashion, language, and education. Hinton was a teenager herself when she wrote this story, making it lean toward a young adult audience. The plot revolves around the main character, PonyBoy, and the relationship within two groups, the Greasers and the Socs. PonyBoy was a Greaser, along with his brothers, and the Greasers and Socs did not normally get along. The main character takes the reader through the 60’s and what was going on in that time.
